Dante's Tenth Ring of Hell: Amazon

Dante reserved his second ring of Hell for the lustful, but I have to believe that if Hell had such divisions then pedophiles would live in the seventh ring for committing crimes of violence against their neighbors. There’s no ring associated with incredibly stupid people who make abysmal business choices in the pursuit of wealth. They are relegated to working for Amazon.com, the pedophile’s preferred outlet for all material related to sex with the prepubescent set.

Who in their right mind at Amazon thought it was a good idea to sell a book titled The Pedophile’s Guide to Love and Pleasure: a Child-lover’s Code of Conduct? The author, Philip R. Greaves II, described his $4.79 downloadable e-book as “my attempt to make pedophile situations safer for those juveniles that find themselves involved in them, by establishing certain rules for these adults to follow. I hope to achieve this by appealing to the better nature of pedosexuals, with hope that their doing so will result in less hatred and perhaps liter sentences should they ever be caught.”

First of all, “pedosexual” and “pedosexuality” are not real words. They were created by the sick-bastard crowd as “value neutral” words to de-stigmatize sexual attraction between an adult and a child. They have yet to be included in the dictionary. The only way to describe pedophilia in “value neutral” terms is to first devalue the eight-year-old boy who has just been sodomized. Secondly, the best way for “pedosexuals” to show their better nature is to play Russian Roulette.  With six loaded chambers.

I’m not certain which idea scrambles my brains more, the “better nature of pedosexuals” or Greaves’ call for “safer” sex between a juvenile and an adult. Safer, as in “safe sex?” Is he advocating condom use? A code word for when it’s time to untie your partner? There is no safe sex between an adult and a child. The damage inflicted upon the child is just shy of irreparable. Not that the pedophile particularly cares about the physical, emotional and spiritual health of the child they’ve just desecrated. The only “liter” sentence for pedophiles should be the cigarette lighter sentence. And a can of gasoline.

Opa!

I’ve been scratching my head since I first read this story on Wednesday. Someone at Amazon had to make a decision that this material was not only acceptable to sell, but that it didn’t violate Amazon’s selling policies.

“Hey, Bob. Do you think we should sell The Pedophile’s Guide to Love and Pleasure: a Child-lover’s Code of Conduct?”

“Gee, I dunno, Fred. Does it violate any of our corporate policies?”

“Hmmm…that’s good question. Our website states that listings for items that Amazon deems offensive are prohibited on Amazon.com. What we deem "offensive" is probably about what you would expect. I don’t find it offensive, do you?”

“A book about sex between adults and children? It doesn’t offend me.”

“Is it on the prohibited items list?”

“We can’t sell child pornography.”

“Are there any pictures?”

“Nope.”

“Sell it.”

What were these people thinking?

I was outraged at Amazon's lack of good judgement. As someone who was molested by a 'nice Uncle' my Dad's friend Onkel Siggi, I couldn't believe my eyes when I read about this a few days ago. And Onkel Siggi, is undoubtedly in that tenth ring of hell since he is dead.
I am glad Amazon took it down yesterday but they are in the middle of a new scandal. Once again sex and pedophilia connected. Shame on them.

Ugh. I just typed out a long response that didn't post because the computer farted, lol. Grrrrr I hate that. The gist of it was that I saw this on Facebook calling for a boycott of Amazon, which I am totally on board with, and am also praying that they go out of business in a huge and CEO-injuring way. Filthy wretched maggots.

You have put it beautifully. The author is trying to make pedophilia an acceptable norm and not a crime. Who cares about the child? Well, it's evident that some of us do, very much.

As for Amazon, whether or not they've pulled this, I don't think I'll be buying from them for a long time if ever.

Thanks, Arby, for the information and your insights. And, yes, I agree with the lighter and gasoline solution, too.

i applaud you for being able to write about this without excessive use of the EFF WORD. i was not. i'm sure that fairly soon amazon will become well-acquainted with the effects of karma.

As a survivor of childhood sexual abuse, I sure wish that my abuser had been given a guidebook to how to assault me. Because that would have made it all better. His "better nature" would have taken over...that "better nature" that failed to stop him from abusing me, but would somehow make the abuse a positive experience? I thought I had heard everything in terms of political correctness but this takes it. A pedophile is a pedophile is a criminal is a monster and is not a choice of sexual orientation or a pedosexual. I may never spend another penny at Amazon again.

Speechless. I just went on Google to find details about this. Incredible. This must be one of the stupidest, irresponsible, evil things a business has ever done.

Well, I know what I'm thinking. I'm thinking that he's as good as admitting to something and law officers should be at his door picking him up right now!

Amazon needs people to write and complain.
