Captain Chaos is having difficulty with the word “pajamas.” She substitutes a “k” for the “p” at the beginning of the word, and says “kajamas.”
It’s really cute.
Cuteness aside, I’ve been trying to get her to pronounce “pajamas” properly. While dressing her for school this morning she asked me if she could remain at home.
“Can I stay home from school today?” she asked. “I want to stay in my kajamas.”
“Pajamas,” I gently corrected, emphasizing the “P.” “You mean pajamas.”
She gave it a good try.
“Can I stay in my..." She paused for a moment, thinking. "PUH-kajamas?”
And we’ll try again tomorrow.

Oh, dad. Enjoy the cuteness while it lasts. The "p" will come eventually.
We have bigger problems here...my littlest says her Ks as Ts. You can imagine the problem comes in when she is discussing kitties. "Mommy, I love _itties." "I have a poster with lots of _itties on it." "Look at my _itty!" It's cute, but still I must work on it with her; it's a little embarrassing when we're at the mall at the Hello _itty store.
Now that's a store I could shop at!
my niece would replace the "k" with "sh" - equally embarrassing.
Thanks for the comments on my new blog :)
Harrison used to always pronounce his L's with Y's. There's nothing quite like going to McDonald's so he could go into the "P-yay P-yace" . We still call it that to this day....even though he outgrew that habit at age four.

I'm sorry, Arby, but Kathleen's the one who got me laughing here. Brings back fond memories of when DramaBoy would pronounce "tr" as "k" and tended to round his vowels. And he loved trucks. He called out their size and color, too.
You do the math. Or phonics, as the case may be.
Reminds me of when my brother and I would put our heads on the steam registers in the morning to heat them up to about 103, then call Mom up to check our temp so we could stay home from school.
It worked several times. The trick was not to over do it.
The Kid: 'steamer registers?' Boy, a house with those hasn't been built in the last 75 years, or more.
My brother and I used to do it, too. He was a year older than me, he turned me onto that trick. And of course we over did it.
Very cute!!!
Fredd. Yep. The house we grew up in was around 100 yrs old.
My son couldn't say "st" for a long time. Said "d" just fine. LOVED to play with sticks. Would run around calling out, "Look at my big #ick!" yeah, like Teacher Mommy said, you do the phonics.
I think I shall not comment on these comments.
I hope her kajamas are as cute as her speech.
and RYC, now I am bummed about my blogpoll toy. I wonder where the comments are going? hmmm....
My son used to have problems with the letter, "L". It was as if the "L was silent in words like "CLOCK"--which was always a bit embarrassing when in public places.
