I Don't Farmville

Honestly, I don’t want your rutabagas.

I really don’t care if your crops need watering. The next time you need a barn-raising please don’t send me a message.

If you send me turnips I will not send you Tuscan Wedding Truffles.  In fact, I won't send you anything at all.

It’s time for me to come clean and tell you that I don’t do Farmville.

If I’ve somehow lead you astray with a mistaken belief that I care about your virtual avocado field, please forgive me. It’s the Boss’ fault. She desperately needed a goat so she logged onto my Facebook account and signed me up for the world’s most annoying sim game solely for the purpose of allowing her to send herself things. Now my inbox and my profile are filled with requests for alfalfa sprouts and soy beans and an extra bag of those tiny rubber bands that are used for castrating sheep. My delete button is my new best friend.

So, thanks, but I don’t want your cows. I suggest your mooooove on down to another friend and try to milk them for a dozen eggs and a bushel of cumquats.   Besides, I've heard that your cows don't give milk.  They're real milk duds.

Oy. I keep trying to find ways to get rid of those oh so annoying alerts and notices and whatnot. Ick. I don't Farmville, I don't Mafia War, I don't do any of that crap.

Sigh.

I've never played FV but I did get sucked into Farmtown and Cafe World for a while. No more though. For Teacher Mommy - you can hover over the hide button and click on "hide this game only" or something like that. You have to do it for each game though. Makes a world of difference to your FB display.

And as for the e-mail notifications, you can stop those as well. Just deselect everything, and you'll never hear from facebook again. If you log in often enough, they do a good job of telling you everything right there on the site.

LOL! I've never done Farmville in any way, not even having another family member use my account for it and STILL I get FV requests! I don't even look at the request page anymore. I do like some games on FB, but usually they are solitary ones like Bejewelled Blitz and Word Drop. It's funny, but I can be really antisocial in my social networking. :o)

Peace and Laughter!

The only thing I have under "likes and interests" is "I dont care about your farm, or your fish, or your park, or your mafia!!!" I'm a fan. So are many of my friends. Yes, you can ignore apps individually, but they come out with at least one equally stupid new one every week. When I logged in to look up "I dont care about your farm, or your fish, or your park, or your mafia!!!" FB stuck a popup in my face asking me to link my page to every school I ever attended, place I ever worked, and every other bit of data they have on me. When I declined, they deleted those sections of my profile.

All I wanted was a virtual address book on the off-chance I ever want to contact some vague acquaintance or distant relative. I don't want to waste time reading FB's mindless content. If they want to dictate how I use their service, I may just delete my account. Social suicide? Well, I may or may not leave a note to a few people containing a disposable email address. Most of my "friends" on FB I'd never miss.

Blondie used my FB to play - but I just don't. And now it is banned completely from her playing. My computer got overrun by a virus and it most likely came from accepting a gift. Not worth it!!!

Well, tell The Boss that, if she needs any more neighbors, I'm always looking for them, too.

Yes, I FarmVille. I FrontierVille. I Mafia Wars. And I Castle Age.

I used to do quite a bit more, but I'm getting better.
