The Boss thanks you for all of your kind words, but she will not become a regular blogger here, and certainly will not start a blog of her own. She finds the act of writing both painful and boring.
I had the pleasure of listening to a fourth grader in my Sunday school class go on a political diatribe. Our lesson for the day was a look at 1 Samuel 16 and how the Lord anointed David. In a don’t-judge-the-book-by-its-cover lesson, the students read how Samuel, following God’s instructions, by-passed all of Jesse’s older, taller, and stronger sons to anoint the shepherd boy. In response to a question about what a good leader looked like, the young man took the opportunity to share his worldly wisdom. It was amazing to listen to him parrot the ranting of his parents or teachers or both, but show an obvious lack of understanding of most of what he said. I particularly enjoyed his comment about Barack Obama being a modern day Harry Truman. Of course, if he ever bothers to read Plain Speaking, a collection of Harry Truman’s personal writing, he will understand that Harry Truman had neither the time nor the patience for liberals or unions, two groups for which President Obama has plenty of time. I’m not holding my breath. I have to wonder where he gets his material, and how out of touch that source is.
Fourth grade.
Had I not been tired from a rather late Saturday night attending the renewal of the vows ceremony for a person I’ve never met previously (open bar + open buffet = a good time) I might have challenged him on his anti-Republican statements, particularly the part about hating Republicans. Had I been sharper I would have asked him which part of his Christian studies taught him that hate was a good thing. What does Lt. Cable sing in South Pacific?

That whole Golden Rule thingy gets mighty complicated when you’re seething against a perceived enemy.

I hope that young man continues to be interested in the leadership of our country but eventually does some studying on his own.
You handled that better than I would have. If it had been me, I probably would have approached his parents and said something along the lines of "Glad to know how you truly feel about me. Such a Christian attitude!" and left it at that.
